I used to think that only "old people" listened to podcasts. I heard my grandma talk about NPR, my parents talk about the news... I never wanted to age myself by listening to podcasts. But, one day in college I heard everyone talking about the infamous Serial channel, a murder mystery. I was hooked.
I enjoyed the fact that you could listen to them while you were working out, driving, going on walks, doing homework, etc.. They are a great multi-tasking, background noise!
As I grew in my faith, I learned how important it is to be careful what you are feeding your brain with. Whether you're paying attention to the lyrics of a song or not, they are still food for your brain & your heart. I started exploring christian podcasts & luckily, I've found three that I highly recommend! They are:
1. The SHE Podcast with Jordan Lee Dooley
All I can say is that Jordan is doing it right. It is fun & inspiring to listen to someone just a few years old than me that has so much wisdom & knowledge to share. The SHE Podcast has a mix of interviews, readings from her book, Own Your Everyday, & also reflection on everyday life. It is an upbeat podcast that is motivating & encouraging. I have just as much fun listening as it sounds like Jordan does recording it!
2. That Sounds Fun Podcast with Annie F Downs
I was ecstatic when I found out one of my favorite authors also had her own podcast! Annie Downs is not only an amazing author, but she is also an amazing podcast host. She has casual faith conversations & interviews with some awesome people such as Bob Goff, Julie Roberts, & Dansby Swanson (heart-eye emoji). Every episode is something completely new & it is great to have wisdom & truth playing in the background of my day!
3. The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey
The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey is a true gem that I stumbled on. Jamie Ivey knows just the right questions to ask, & how to make her listeners feel like they are right there in the conversation with her. Not all of her conversations are faith based, but they still all come from a grounded place. With over 250+ episodes, you can definitely find someone that Jamie interviews that you have been dying to hear from.
I am thankful for these women who are centered in Christ & share their gifts with the world! If you want to be inspired, motivated, & gain bunches of knowledge... go check out these podcasts!
