Mothers in the Bible

Mother's Day is this weekend so what better way to celebrate than to look at the mothers who went before us in the Bible and explore the eternal legacy they have left behind.

The first mother we will explore is the first mother EVER.

I cannot even imagine going through pregnancy, and raising kids without any there to help or any examples or guidance from others! Eve is truly amazing. Eve was not naive to the miracles and wonders that God was doing in her life, she turned all the glory back to God. See Genesis 4:1 and 4:25! Not to undermine Eve's sin, but Eve also teaches us that no sin can separate us from God's love and from Him working in our lives.

The second mother is Naomi, who set aside her struggles and suffering so that she could lead her family to redemption. By taking Ruth under her wing and encouraging her to pursue Boaz, Jesus' family line includes foreigners.

The third mother is Mary, the mother of Jesus. By saying yes and being an obedient and faithful servant, Jesus was born.

Because Mary was faithful and humble servant (Luke 1:38), Jesus was born as the Son of God to die on the cross for our sins. Through Mary's selfless act, countless people have found their way home to God.

These women are not only mothers, but they are women leaders, our sisters in Christ, and daughters of the king.

A special Happy Mothers Day shout out to my mother and sister! I am so thankful to have you both in my life.
